This quote has long been in my head rent free: "Leave this place better than you found it."
Every time I think about giving back to society or doing something nice for others, this is the saying I come back to. As a Homosapien with a history of destroying nature, I feel like I have to do something.
As of June 2019, one million species of plants and animals were at risk of extinction. At least 571 plant species have been lost since 1750, but likely many more. The main cause of these extinctions is the destruction of natural habitats by human activities, such as cutting down forests and converting land into fields for farming (Source: The Guardian).
To be honest, I don't think I can do anything remotely close to solving this problem, but at least I can try to do something to help my fellow humans and the few animals and trees that live in my neighbourhood.
This newsletter edition is reserved for the change we want to see in the world. One person cannot bring about change, but together we can do things that were once just dreams.
I try to do this through Rotary & Rotaract, but you can choose to do it your way! I'm not necessarily requesting that you join these particular organisations, but I will say that Rotary is the only organisation that gives back 92% of its donations to charity.
You can make a change just by changing your lifestyle and making a huge impact on your carbon footprint. But I do request that you plant at least one tree a month and take care of it.
Thanks in advance,
